Reading For January 8th

For many people, the start of a new year is a time for deep personal reflection, maybe even a re-commitment to a spiritual tradition…and a promise to embrace what really matters in life.

We formed the Grand Rapids chapter of the International Thomas Merton Society to discuss the life and works of the man known as Fr. Louis, a monk whose keen insights still resonate with seekers from all walks of life and faith traditions.

A century after his untimely death, Trappist monk Thomas Merton (1915-1968) remains one of the world’s most widely read, talked about, and beloved authors, poets, contemplatives, and spiritual teachers in the world.

In our January 8th meeting, we will discuss chapters 4-7 of Thomas Merton’s book No Man Is An Island, which is available at Baker Book House.
